Board of Directors

The Central West LHIN is fortunate to have a skilled and dedicated Board of Directors that provides strong leadership to the LHIN’s activities. Board members lend a wealth of expertise to boardroom table discussions offering diverse backgrounds in areas like health care, public administration, management, accounting, finance, law, human resources, labour relations, communications and information management.

The Board of Directors consists of nine members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. The members of the Board may hold office for a period of up to three years and may be reappointed for one further term.

Joe McReynolds

Chair – Joe McReynolds (Caledon East)
"While the LHIN has certain authorities under legislation, our intent is to work in a collaborative way and encourage similar collaboration amongst providers in Central West."

Joe McReynolds has had many year of public service in the field of social and health services. Previous to his appointment as the first Chair of the Central West LHIN in 2005 he was the CEO of Ontario Community Support Association since 1998.

Joe’s career also spans 30 years in management positions with the Ontario Public Service – in Community and Social services, Municipal Affairs and Economic Development and Trade.  Following his leaving the public service, he operated a consulting business, focusing on community economic development and community health.

Over the years, Joe has always been active in his community. Recently, he was a member of the Halton Peel District Health Council, serving as chair from 2000 to 2003. He was also chair of the Ontario District Health Councils from 2003 to 2004.

Terry Miller

Vice Chair – Terry Miller (Brampton)
"My goal is to make the health system easier to use for citizens.Our role in integrating services makes the LHIN the instrument ofchange in localhealth delivery."

Terry Miller has held several positions with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. He joined the Board in 1981 as a teacher and until his recent retirement served as the Board's Associate Director of Education for Corporate Services. From 1966 to 1979, Terry taught history at West Humber Collegiate and from 1980 to 1981, he worked as a planning consultant for TM Parnell & Associates. In 1969, Terry Miller was elected deputy reeve of Chinguacousy Township and a Member of Peel County Council. In 1974-1979, he was elected as a regional councillor to the city of Brampton Council and the Region of Peel Council.

Terry has been active in many community agencies serving as campaign chair of the Canadian Cancer Society Bramalea Unit, and as a member of various Boards of Directors such as; Peel Family Services, Peel Children's Aid Society and Rapport House. Terry was also on the Board of Governors of Sheridan College, Chinguacousy Health Services Board, Peel Regional Housing Authority, Peel Memorial Hospital and the Peel Historical Society.

Terry was recognized by the government of Canada for his community work when he was awarded the Commemorative Medal - 125th Anniversary of Confederation. He is also a recipient of the Commemorative Medal for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee 2002.

Aside from being vice chair of the Central West Local Health Integration Network, Terry is also involved in School Aid Grenada, a project to help schools in Grenada recover from the devastating effects of hurricane Ivan.

Kuldip Kandola

Secretary – Kuldip Kandola (Brampton)
"Leadership is about listening and being responsive to the public and provider community, and together, endeavouring to take our health care to the next level in every perceivable aspect."

Kuldip Kandola is owner of Select Group Realty Ltd. a Brampton based franchising company.

Ms. Kandola has lived in the west end since 1982 and has volunteered for several local organizations including the North York Cultural Association from 1985 to 1987. She has also served as director of Sanvad Publication from 1987 to 1989 and volunteered for the Sikh Women’s Organization. Ms. Kandola served as director of the Malton Soccer Club from 1996 to 1998.

In addition to running her business, Ms. Kandola has instructed real estate courses from 2003 to 2005 and served on the Ethics and Arbitration Committee of a local real estate board from 2000 to 2005.

Anita Gittens

Member – Anita Gittens
"Most important is to honour our core values of person centeredness, transparency, integrity and stewardship and our guiding principles whilst working towards achieving our vision."

Anita Gittens of Toronto is a health care consultant in a private practice. She has extensive leadership experience in many areas of health care, particularly acute care and long term care and her expertise includes strategic planning and analysis, health policy, operational and resources management, and public consultation.

Gittens has worked in both the public and private health sectors. She has held professional and management positions relating to diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine at the William Osler Health Centre in Etobicoke.

Her community involvement has included serving as a board member of the Toronto District Health Council, as chair of the Albion Lodge Home Advisory Committee, Wesburn Manor Home Advisory Committee, and the Inter Home Advisory for the 10 Toronto Homes for the Aged, and as a member the Toronto Divisional Advisory Committee on Homes for the Aged. She is a board member of the Church of St. Paul the Apostle and the Toronto Diocesan Anglican Church Women.

Zygmond Novak

Member – Zygmond Novak
"The level of energy and zeal shown by both the Board and LHIN staff guarantees that the new concept for health care will succeed."

Zygmond Novak lives in Brampton and is a Certified General Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. At retirement he was the president and chief financial officer of Knowles Consultancy Services Inc., a company that provided specialized consulting services to the surety industry and to various Ontario government ministries.

 In addition, he spent 25 years with Ontario Hydro assuming more responsible positions in the Controllers and Audit Divisions. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Certified General Accountants,
Canadian Association of Certified General Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Active in community involvement, Novak has served as a member of the Brampton Library Board, Peel Social Services Board and the Chinguacousy Hospital Board.
