Mental Health and Addiction Services
Mental Health and Addiction Services
There are approximately 11,500 seriously mental ill people living in the Central West LHIN, representing about two percent of our total population over 15 years of age. The rate of substance abuse in people with mental illness disorders is estimated to be at 29 percent. We will look at developing an improved service delivery system that connects residents with the right care when they need it.
10 Year Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Strategy
The Central West LHIN held a series of public consultations in May 2009 to get local input into the development of a 10 year provincial plan for the development of mental health and addictions services. At Open Minds. Healthy Minds. a summit held on July 13 - 14 the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care released a discussion paper, Every Door is the Right Door, which provides a starting point for the development of this 10 year strategy.
Thank you to all of those who participated in the Central West LHIN community consultation to help inform this strategy. Please click on the link below to review the report from this consultation.
